The singles lifestyle was not factored in. The forces that are causing these changes are the rapid increase in the number of single adults and growing acceptance of this lifestyle choice. In the world of married and family life, there is a long, never-ending list of built-in social events.   Unmarried writer Kate Bolick has recently written an interesting book on the topic. I don't have any statistics, but I live in a big city, and I avoid super-religious sects that shun those outside.

More than anything, you’ll see that your time as a single Catholic isn’t just a waiting period but a time for you to realize your vocation and to start living a life in Christ right now. Read this book, and you’ll gain the confidence and inspiration you need to find peace, joy, and meaning in your life as a single Catholic.   Many newly single people join a divorce recovery group and that is the first interaction they have with others as a single person. It can be helpful to find a group you can be a part of, whether it's a writer's group, bird watching, book club, or whatever you like. Getting out there and getting involved will help you move forward in your life.

  It’s an uninformed and inaccurate assumption to think about the period between age 50 and elderly as one single period.
